Church Street Cemetery in Mobile, AL
Church Street Cemetery ( also known as Church Street Graveyard) was created by the City of Mobile in 1819. When it was first put into use, the site of the cemetery was more than a half mile from any developed land, but today the cemetery is firmly in Mobile’s downtown. Burials in Church Street Cemetery ceased in 1898, but the city has allowed a few modern burials through special city resolutions.
